Originally from the UK, Karen Goddard was based in Cape
Town for 22 years, and has now relocated to the Gold Coast, Australia. Karen
started painting in Oils during 1999, joining a local art school under the
guidance of Judy Moolenschot, where all mediums were explored during her
2 year attendance.
Karen was fortunate to receive her first commission in 2001 for a Cape Town
Restaurant. And has participated in numerous exhibitions, including at the
Greyton Gallery, Veldrift Gallery, The Framing Gallery, Grovesnor Gallery,
and the Riebeeck Valley Hotel.
The first solo exhibition was in 2003 at .38 Special in Cape Town. Her
contemporary works were also available at the Hout Bay Gallery.
Having previously exhibited with Cape Town artist Margie Johnson in Greyton,
she decided to join Margie's school in 2005. This she has found to be a huge
source of inspiration.
Her use of colour is courageous and bold, resulting in energetic, refreshing
and uninhibited works. She is always keen to challenge herself to produce
a broader spectrum of compositions, demonstrating unlimited diversity from
contemporary through to realism.
All current works are Oil on stretched Canvas.
Karen is currently commissioned (March 2008) to paint works including the Griqua below ... from a picture provided by Scott Balson, author of the best-selling book "Children of the Mist", Scott Balson is delighted with the way in which Karen's interpretation of the Griqua man is coming along and more works are expected to be commissioned by him.
